My name is Ram Kulkarni. I live in Bangalore, India.
I have been developing software for more than twenty years. I had written my first program in Fortran and since then I have been hooked to programming. After programming in C and C++ for the first five years, now I mostly code in Java.
I worked in the ColdFusion team in Adobe for ten years. I joined Macromedia just before ColdFusion 7 was about to release. Since then I have worked on ColdFusion 8, 9, 10 and 11. I implemented many features in ColdFusion like debugger, interface support exchange integration etc. However my most challenging project in Adobe has been ColdFusion Builder. ColdFusion Builder is an IDE for building ColdFusion application, and is built on top of Eclipse. I am the lead engineer for ColdFusion Builder since its first release.
I have always been fascinated by mobile applications. I had created my first PDA application for Palm OS almost 10 years back. I did dabble in J2ME a bit after that but it was just too tedious and mobile phones were not as powerful and feature rich as they are today. However now that smart phones are being used widely and Android has made mobile development quite easy, I have started developing apps for Android in the last one year. I have published two applications on the Android Market – 1. Annotated Call Log 2. Simple Task Reminder. I do have a couple of more apps that I am currently working on.
I have worked on a number of technologies; Server, IDE, Web Applications, Desktop Applications, Mobile Applications etc. Through this blog I will be sharing my experience in working with these technologies.
